February a memorable month

Am not sure about the exact date, but it was a day this month last year, when I first went to London for consultation with Marie on microlocks. That trip was the start of my journey and it was the most important because it was the determining factor as to whether or not I was going ahead with my decision to loc my hair.

In my family we do a lot of justifying and answering to a lot of whys. I remember worrying about my family’s reaction, but I had done my homework and prepared well on how I was going to elevate natural hair and sisterlocking. I knew that not everyone of them would like it but I needed most of them on my side. So I filled them in on sisterlocks. I sent them web links on sisterlocks and journeys with lots of pictures. And I needed to make them understand that I was not doing dreadlocks, and dreads are not bad, BUT in the society that I grew up in, dreads would cause a stir in my family especially my mum. Anyway, I got the family blessing and they now take keen interest in how my locks are developing. So if I want as many family members to taste this freedom of natural hair and locks, it’s important that I have a beautiful head of locks.
