I took a short 4-day vacation to Nice, south of France and it was absolutely wonderful. I shrugged off all the stress as I left Paris to Nice Ville on the TGV. It was a long 6 hours train ride but it was worth it although the hot weather in Nice made it quite difficult to do much.
I hadn't planned on going swimming but my friend convinced me to pick up a bikini on the way to the beach. It took me quite a while before I dropped my towel and took a plunge into the cold sea. Molst beaches in Nice are quite stoney and that was very uncomfortable. I was cautious not to get my locks wet so I tied them up with a scrunchy and they didn't budge.
We went to Monte Carlo and visited the Jardin Exotic on a cliffside with an extraordinary view of Monaco and the French and Italian Rivieras. The garden has over a thousand species of cacti. I also went into the observatory grotto at the foot of the garden's cliff with subterranean concretions of all shapes and sizes - very impressive indeed. Am abit of a coward so my heart was in my mouth while descending deeper and deeper. I kept thinking, what if... So I sent a text message to one of my sisters just in case... Survival in such a place would be nil!
But gosh, people in Monaco are so rich - they're living a mini paradise life.
Cannes was also nice with the rich and lots of exotic shops that I didn't dare enter especially the fact that I was wearing flip flops and looked so plain. It reminds me of how Julie Roberts in Pretty Woman and how she was snabbed by sales assistants because of her look - well I didn't want that happening to me and I didn't want to get annoyed and ruin my vacation.
Eh voilà.
